PayuOud at Festival Timur Tengah 2026: Bringing Sana’i Agarwood to the World Stage

Some milestones are worth marking not just with a product, but with a story. This one starts at Universitas Indonesia.

PT Monggo Jaya Berdikari, the company behind PayuOud, was proud to attend and sponsor Festival Timur Tengah 2026, an event held by the Department of Arabic Literature (Jurusan Sastra Arab), Faculty of Humanities (Fakultas Ilmu Budaya) at Universitas Indonesia. The festival brought together academics, diplomats, students, and cultural figures to celebrate the languages, traditions, and shared heritage connecting Indonesia to the Middle East — a fitting stage for a company built around a material with centuries-deep roots in that very region.

Why This Moment Matters

Agarwood has never belonged to one country alone. For over a thousand years, oud has moved along trade routes connecting Southeast Asia to the Middle East, carrying with it meaning far beyond fragrance — hospitality, respect, and cultural identity. Standing at Festival Timur Tengah 2026, representing an Indonesian-made Sana’i agarwood brand at an event celebrating Middle Eastern culture, felt like a full-circle moment for a craft that has always lived at the intersection of these two worlds.

Gifting Our Craft to Distinguished Guests

As part of the occasion, PT Monggo Jaya Berdikari presented Sana’i agarwood as gifts to the Ambassadors of:

Kuwait
Jordan
Egypt
Bahrain
Oman

Offering oud as a gift is itself a gesture rooted in Middle Eastern tradition — a mark of hospitality and respect extended to honored guests. In presenting our own Sana’i agarwood to these distinguished diplomats, we hoped to do more than share a product; we wanted to represent the quality and craftsmanship of Indonesian agarwood on a stage where oud’s cultural significance is deeply understood and appreciated.

A Stand Built for Learning, Not Just Selling

Beyond the diplomatic gestures, our team also set up a stand at the festival — and it quickly became a hub for something we care deeply about: education. Rather than simply displaying our products, we spent much of the day walking visitors through the world of oud, bukhoor, and perfumery — explaining how agarwood forms, what separates genuine Sana’i agarwood from imitations, how burning technique affects the experience, and how bukhoor and perfume traditions connect across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

For many visitors, especially students and younger attendees, this was their first real introduction to agarwood beyond what they may have encountered in passing. Watching that curiosity turn into genuine appreciation — for the craft, the history, and the culture behind it — was one of the most rewarding parts of the day for our team.

A Reflection of What We Stand For

This gesture reflects the same values that have guided PT Monggo Jaya Berdikari since our founder’s earliest days in traditional agarwood distillation: a respect for craftsmanship, an appreciation for agarwood’s cultural weight, and a commitment to representing Indonesian Sana’i agarwood at the highest standard — whether that’s in a customer’s hands or an ambassador’s.

Events like Festival Timur Tengah 2026 remind us that what we do isn’t just about producing fragrant wood. It’s about carrying forward a tradition that has connected cultures for generations, and finding new ways to honor that connection today.
